Tan Yih Sze

Yih Sze has more than 25 years of professional experience in corporate management, management consulting, organisational development, people/career development, coaching, psychotherapy and counselling. Besides seeing clients in private practice, she has worked with youths/youths-at-risk and their families with abuse, trauma and attachment disorder histories within or outside of residential treatment facilities, referred by psychiatrists, Ministry of Social and Family Development, courts, schools and community services. She also trains staff in corporate settings, consults with parents and staff in educational institutions, and provides case or personal consultations to fellow helping professionals.

In therapy, Yih Sze exudes a deep understanding and respect of each person's individuality and unique physical, psycho-social and spiritual context. She empowers individuals with skills and emotional resources to heal traumas, navigate through major and critical life transitions, develop resilience and achieve personal growth. Each session is an intuitive and individualised blend of evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as cognitive-behavioural therapy, gestalt therapy, ego-state developmental needs therapy, EMDR, TRE (Tension / Trauma Release Exercise), Somatic Experiencing, Brainspotting, Neuroaffective Touch and other neurosensory-informed psychotherapy techniques with strong principles of psychodynamic and inner child work.

Yih Sze holds a Master degree in Social Science (Professional Counselling) from Swinburne University of Technology, Masters of Commerce from University of New South Wales, Bachelor degrees from National University of Singapore and University of Canberra. She is a certified EMDR therapist and Somatic Experience practitioner. She is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
